Still here. Still Healing. Still Shining.

It’s been a minute.
Our family’s story continues to unfold in ways we never could have anticipated, and ways that we never have wanted. There are moments where we feel we are seeing forward movement, and then we take two steps back. Some chapters are heavy. Some feel hopeful. Most are a mix of both. And through it all, Project Light has remained quietly at work behind the scenes. Because while things may look still on the surface, healing, advocating, and standing in the gap never really pause.
The truth is, when your child is walking through trauma recovery, the justice system, and their own daily battles, life becomes a patchwork of conversations with detectives, therapy sessions, hard conversations with family members, and sacred small victories. As a parent, you find yourself caught between holding your child’s pain, managing your own, and trying to find some solid ground in the chaos.
That’s what I see Project Light's blog being about.
We want to pull back the curtain, not just on our own journey, but on the realities that so many families face when walking through trauma. We want to create a space that’s honest about the heartbreak and the hope, the fear and the faith, the setbacks and the sparks of light that keep us going.
Because we know this:
You are not alone.
Whether you’re navigating legal systems, sitting through another therapy session, or just trying to make it through another hard day, this space is for you. And Project Light is still here. Still advocating. Still creating resources. Still believing in restoration, even when the path feels messy and long.
As we move forward, this blog will be a place where we share:
Glimpses into real-life healing journeys
Faith-filled encouragement for weary parents and caregivers
Updates on advocacy efforts and survivor support
Honest conversations about trauma, justice, and rebuilding
To every parent, caregiver, survivor, and friend: We see you. We stand with you. And we’re walking this road together, guided by the unwavering Light that never goes out...even in the darkest night. You, are the light on a hill.
If you or someone you know has a story that they would like us to share anonymously to bring hope to a dark place, please email us at: projectlightmi@gmail.com
With hope,
The Project Light Team
