Project Light was born from our son Luke’s courage to come forward. Though he bravely shared his story in a forensic interview, the justice system told us it wasn’t enough; his forensic interview couldn’t

be used in court unless the defense agreed.

That moment opened our eyes to the painful

imbalance: the system often protects the

accused more than the victim.

Walking through this process, we also realized

how little guidance families receive before

disclosure. Without resources, parents can

unknowingly make mistakes that make it harder for a child to be heard and protected. Our experience ignited a calling: to advocate for legislation that gives victims a stronger voice, and to equip families with the tools, support, and hope they need from the very start.
